Minor Ailments Scheme
The minor ailment scheme has been extended into 2024 in Hawkes Bay. This allows us to offer advice, medicine or referral for minor health conditions.
These health conditions include:
Acute diarrhoea
Dehydration
Eye inflammation and infections
Scabies
Headlice
Pain and fever
Eczema and dermatitis
Minor skin infections
Uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections in females between 16 and 65 years
The minor ailment scheme aims to improve access for people who are unable to access care or afford care for these minor ailments.
The consultation is provided by a registered pharmacist in a private consultation area.
The pharmacist will determine if funded treatment is appropriate or whether the patient needs to be referred to another healthcare provider e.g. a doctor.
